Painted Black Window Trim

For the past several weeks I’ve been busy updating our combined kitchen and dining area with paint and adding some of our personal style with lighting and shelving, that I shared here. We have two large casement windows in this space, one over the kitchen sink and one in the dining area, and I’ve been wanting to do some kind of makeover on them during this redo to showcase how beautiful they are.

Both are original to the house, which was built in 1946, and they look like they’ve been painted many times but they’re in great shape.

Actually they don’t open, so that’s a bummer, but other than that they’re in great shape. 🙂

They’re currently painted white but I’ve had a bee in my bonnet since we moved in that I wanted to paint them black. Every time I brought it up though, the hubs would look at me like I was losing my marbles (which is nothing new 😉 ), so I would let it go.

Giving this space a makeover has rekindled my desire, so I went on Pinterest to look for inspiration and found so many beautiful spaces with painted black window trim. It was just the boost I needed to do my own.

Pretty great, right?

The only problem is that I am trying to paint them in the winter and you can’t paint metal when it’s cold out. They need several coats and I’ve had to wait for warmer temps. It’s taking me longer than I had hoped but I’m excited about the change they’ll make in our kitchen.

We’re supposed to have beautiful, and warm, weather this weekend so you know what I’ll be doing. 🙂

What do you think about painted black window trim? Is it something you would try?

Thanks so much for stopping in and I hope you have a great weekend!
