Our California Trip

I’ve been sharing a lot of not-so-pinworthy (not-so-pretty) kitchen reno pictures lately and thought it was time to share something pretty…our holiday spent in California. If you’ve not visited Chatfield Court before, then you may not know that our daughters live in Denver and San Francisco. We don’t get to see each other as much as we would like but we always try to spend Christmas together, so we decided to rent a house in the Wine Country of California. It was a great decision because we had a great time and it was absolutely beautiful.

Our California Trip, www.chatfieldcourt.comWe were in the hills with all the redwoods and woodpecker, so many woodpeckers around. The above photo was taken from the 3rd floor of our rented home.

On Christmas day we took a ride to the beach. So beautiful and a great way to spend the day together.

Unfortunately, our four days in Wine Country went by too quickly and we found ourselves back in San Francisco. We spent two more days with our daughter and rented the cutest little cottage in Berkley.

Our California Trip, www.chatfieldcourt.comIsn’t it cute. Finn absolutely loved running around the gardens and I kept catching him sitting by these two wooden dogs.

Our California Trip, www.chatfieldcourt.comThis was the best part of the cottage…the view. Getting to the cottage was quite the hike though. You really have to be in good shape to live here because the hills are outrageous. 😉

Our California Trip, www.chatfieldcourt.comOn our way to the airport for our flight home, my husband took my high atop Berkley for this spectacular view of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Our California Trip, www.chatfieldcourt.comJust like that, our week was over but it was great to spend time with our girls in such a beautiful place. We will definitely do this again.

If you made it this far, thanks for hanging in there. 🙂 Have you ever been to California before? Where is your favorite place to visit?

Our son used to live in San Diego and my hubby had a client with a condo in LaJolla, right on the beach so we would stay there when we visited. My favorite part of California! But thankfully, that same son moved home to our area, married and has a family now 🙂 Your ocean photo is especially stunning – glad you had this great week!

Love, love the LaJolla area Barbara. That’s the first place I ever visited in California and I’ll never forget it. So beautiful there.

It looks gorgeous! Being out in country (or the outskirts of town even!) is always refreshing to me. There’s just something peaceful about being surrounded by so many trees and not as many people! 🙂

You are so right! I love the energy of the city but it’s hard to beat the peacefulness of the woods. 🙂

Nice pictures. I have not been to California. I have always wanted to go to wine country and the Red Wood Forest.

I visited California for the very first time about 5 years ago. Growing up on the East Coast, you don’t realize how different it is from the West Coast. I hope you get the chance to visit this beautiful state one day Debbie.

Thanks so much for stopping in. 🙂

Love the pic of Finn! That is so cute! I think I told you before we rented a house a few years ago on Lake Ontario in NY. We spent a week with our boys and their families. It was wonderful! We hope to be able to do it again soon! The grandkids are getting older so there would be more to do with them as far as the beach and water sports. Your trip looks like it was a lot of fun for everyone!

It’s always great to spend some time away with your kids and their families, isn’t it MJ? It’s a great way to make long lasting memories.

I’ve never actually made it to California! The pictures look gorgeous, though, and make me even more determined to start planning a big West Coast road trip!

Growing up on the East Coast, I never really had the desire to visit California but now that I’ve gone, I always look forward to returning. I hope that you get the chance to visit Giedre.

I live in Southern Cali, and your trip to the north sounds wonderful. The redwoods are amazing. That little cottage does look really cute…make me yearn for a little time away myself. This would be a great idea! 🙂 Please come share your blog posts over at the Home Matters Linky Party! We’d love to have you for a visit. Hi Susan and Bentley. I can’t believe that it took me so long to visit the West Coast but now that I have, I always look forward to returning. You are lucky to have lived there.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Oh, I’m so jealous. I’m sure you will love it. Your picks to visit are definitely good ones. If you love coffee, The Mill is my favorite place to get a great cup and awesome toast (I’m a toast lover). Make sure you go on a cable car, Lombard Street (SF famous crooked street) and I always love to drive over the Golden Gate bridge. In wine country, we toured the Korbel Winery and really enjoyed learning it’s history. Make sure you bring warm clothes for SF. It’s always quite windy and tends to get very chilly. If you have any other questions, just ask.
Hope you have a fabulous time.
