Hello and welcome! It’s a great day to stop in to Chatfield Court because today is the first day of our fall tour, the Welcome Fall Home Tour. Over the next 4 days, 16 talented bloggers will open up their homes and share ideas and inspiration on how they welcome fall into their own homes. Make sure you read to the end of the post to find the links for today’s participants.

There’s so much to see today, so grab a cup of coffee and let’s get this tour started with our little cottage all dressed for fall. Enjoy!

We just finished phase one of a redo in the sunroom so I had fun adding a few simple fall touches in the newly reconfigured space. I usually decorate with traditional fall colors, adding in a little orange, but decided to try something different this season.

The living room also had a little redo this year (here and here) so it’s like I’m decorating a new space. It’s amazing what a new paint color and simple curtains can do for a space.

I actually kept it really simple and used most of the same pillow covers that were out all summer. I just added a pop of gold, a cozy throw and some fall flowers and called it done. Super simple.

As usual, I added a lot of natural elements. Apples, fresh flowers and even branches from the yard help to add that fall vibe to the cottage. Decorating your home for fall doesn’t always have to be about pumpkins.

Just like the sunroom and living room, the kitchen and dining are also underwent a makeover since last fall. I’m still loving the black casement windows that I tackled this year. It was a time consuming project but the results are better than I could have imagined.

The kitchen/dining area has become my favorite space to decorate. I love to change things around. The hubs doesn’t love it but it makes me happy.

I always switch the bedding when the seasons change but I don’t really worry about adding fall touches. This year, though, I decided to add a bit here and there. I recently shared the master bedroom and 5 tips to create a cozy fall bedroom with crisp white sheets, fresh fall flowers and lots of texture with throws, blankets and a knitted stool. We can’t do a whole lot in here, it’s just so small, but it’s just enough to give it that cozy, fall vibe.

I love how the cottage feels all decorated for fall. In the short time we’ve been here it’s become my favorite season to decorate.

Thanks so much for stopping by and touring our little cottage.

The next stop on the Welcome Fall Home Tour is Laura, from Duke Manor Farm. Stop over to check out all of her fabulous fall inspiration. After Laura you can head to Cristina’a, Remodelando la Casa,  beautiful outdoor patio and finish up at Jessica’s, Honey n Hydrangea, beautiful fall florals.

Hi and thanks for stopping in today for my fall home tour. If you are visiting from Darrielle’s beautiful blog, D.D.’s Cottage and Design, welcome, I’m so glad you’re here! Brenda from Cozy Little House put together this tour of 28 fabulous homes decorated for fall, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it.

When Brenda invited me to participate in the tour, I was a bit hesitant at first because of the kitchen reno we’re in the middle of, but I knew that it would give me a chance to make a room in my house look pretty again, if only for a moment. So I accepted her kind invitation, moved all the tools and other construction junk into different corners of the house, and pulled my fall decor out. I’m happy to tell you that I was able to make my living room and foyer look like fall for a few days (at the expense of my other rooms), and it was nice to have a pretty room again.

One of my favorite things is my front door basket. You can see how easy this was to make here.

I find that I’m always changing things around in the entryway. We have a lot going on in this small space and it can be a challenge for me to decorate.

For my fall decor this year, I went with what I love…simple, with lots of natural elements.

I’ve been able to squeeze in a few fall crafts, between working on the kitchen, and I’ll be posting them soon. One of the crafts that I did was to add some leaves on the old window that I propped up on the cabinet. I bought this old, chippy window months ago to hang in the kitchen, but I’ve since found something else. I brought it in from the garage and it just sat, propped up against the wall, so I stuck it up here for now until I can figure out what to do with it.

I picked up a few mums and an ornamental pepper plant for the front stoop but I’ve not done anything else to the porch. Summer temps have returned this week and I hope that they make it through. We have a long way to go until Halloween.

It was fun decorating my living room for the tour and it was nice to have a room all clean and spiffy, but, I have to admit, I’m still not ready to let go of summer.

Thanks so much for visiting and touring my fall home room, I’m so glad that you stopped in. Next year all of our construction mess will be cleaned up and long forgotten (hopefully) and I’ll be able to share my new kitchen decorated for fall. Speaking of the kitchen, I’m hoping to have an update Friday on our new countertops. They’re in and I’m so excited to show them to you!

Hey there and welcome to my Christmas home tour!. Last year we had just been in our home for a few months so I wasn’t able to spend the time I wanted decorating. I’m still trying to figure out how to decorate in my small (to me) space, using natural elements and not cluttering my rooms with too much, but it’s coming together.

I know you came here for the sights and not my sounds so let’s begin the tour.

I didn’t decorate with any special theme in mind but I did end up using a lot of red and green. The usual traditional Christmas colors.

The tree is decorated simply this year. Colored lights for the Mr. and some of our ornaments from when the girls were babies.  I also used jute webbing as a simple garland around the tree.

It always seems to take me a while to decorate for the holiday, as I’m always rearranging and tweaking. Next week I’ll share my new guest bedroom decorated with some holiday cheer and our front porch stoop.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Happy Holidays!

Hey, hey…hope you are doing well. I was a little under the weather last week but I’m back and excited to share my Fall home tour with you (although it’s really only my living, dining and entryway but home tour sounds much more grand).

Fall Home Tour 2014 | www.chatfieldcourt.com

Last year, with moving in and the house renovations getting started, I didn’t put too much thought into decorating, just put some things out that I already had, but this year I had fun choosing what I wanted to do. The one thing I’ve learned about having a small home is that you don’t have a lot empty space for decor so you really need to have a plan or you could end up just having stuff all over, which is not a look that I go for. I like a look that’s simple and cozy with some natural elements (and doesn’t cost a lot).

The console that I have by the front door was the first good piece of furniture that I ever bought…and I still love it. The picture is an ode to our time living in Macon, GA and the Pepsi case is a recent find from the Kane County flea market.

Fall Home Tour 2014 | www.chatfieldcourt.comThe soda case is filled with some big pine cones and my very own hydrangea. Because we lived in the South for 20 years and couldn’t grow them, I was so excited to plant them in our garden this summer. Let’s hope they come back next year.

The cloches are new this year and the Love Feast pumpkins were from a giveaway I won last year.

Fall Home Tour 2014 | www.chatfieldcourt.comFall Home Tour 2014 | www.chatfieldcourt.comLove these wooden acorns from Hobby Lobby. I did touch up a few stems with some Rub ‘n Buff.

Fall Home Tour 2014 | www.chatfieldcourt.comI don’t have a lot of decorating space in my kitchen but I did add some cute little boo pumpkins to my navy armoire.

Fall Home Tour 2014 | www.chatfieldcourt.comThe front porch, or should I say stoop, was the most fun to decorate. I planted some kale with my purple fountain grass, added some corn stalks, a gaggle of pumpkins and a big mum. I had the big orange pumpkin out for less than 24 hours and some sneaky little squirrel nibbled away at it in several spots. We had the same problem last year and ended up coating the whole pumpkin with petroleum jelly, that’s why it looks so shiny.

Fall Home Tour 2014 | www.chatfieldcourt.comI’m happy to say that the snack bar is closed and I’ve seen no new nibbles.

Fall Home Tour 2014 | www.chatfieldcourt.com

I got two bunches of corn stalks to put on either side of the door but realized the poor mail person wouldn’t be able to get to our mailbox so we doubled up the stalks. Check out that trendy chippy railing…hopefully next year we’ll be able to scrape and paint it. 😉

Fall Home Tour 2014 | www.chatfieldcourt.comThe last several days have been Fall-like here in Illinois, I’ve even had to turn the heat on a few mornings. I’ve always loved Fall but I’m not sure I’m ready to let go of the summer weather.

What about you? Are you ready for Fall yet? Has your weather begun to change too?

Home Tour | Chatfield Court.comSince moving into our house last June, I have redone several of my rooms so I thought it was time to do a home tour. First some quick facts about our home…it’s a brick ranch house built in 1956. We have almost 1200 square feet of living space with 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom.

I’ve loaded this post with lots of pictures, so grab a cup of coffee and enjoy! You can click on each picture and it will take you to a prior post about that particular image.

This is our little ranch the day we moved in. We still have a lot of work to do outside to make it ours.

Since it’s one big room, we’ll start with the entryway, living room, dining area. The front door was painted with BM Blue Lake. I actually painted the white trim on the door to look like real wood trim, to dress up the flat, plain door.

In the master bedroom we painted the ceiling, walls and trim and added crown molding.

Home Tour | Chatfield Court.comHome Tour | Chatfield Court.comI painted the walls BM Hazy Skies and the ceiling  BM White Dove in pearl finish. It has a slight sheen that lightly shimmers when light hits it.

Home Tour | Chatfield Court.comHome Tour | Chatfield Court.comThe last room I’ve completed is the guest bedroom. This room already had a beautiful built-in bookcase and crown molding.

The nightstand redo was my favorite project and I spent no money on it. I just used some paint sticks, stain and glue and got a whole new look.
