It was a tough decision to put our cargo trailer conversion on the market, but it’s time.
We started on our conversion journey in 2018 with no clue how hard it would be to build, or how long it would take us, but after 2 years and a lot of blood, sweat and tears we finally finished.
It’s been so fun taking her around the southeast camping in all kinds of places and we’ve made so many memories. But all good things must come to an end.
We are sad about letting her go but we’re hoping that whoever gets her next will enjoy it just as much as we have.
Let’s get to some specifics and a few before and afters of our build. Check out the end of the post for the full specs on our trailer.
This is what it looked like when we started the build.
It was just a 16×7′ big empty box with 3 windows and a door. It was daunting for sure, but we were excited to build a custom RV to fit our needs.
Our goal in all of this was to build an RV with quality products that would last years. You won’t find any particle board in our trailer. Everything from the tongue and groove ceiling to the shiplap wall, countertops and cabinets are solid wood. We didn’t cut corners on any of it.
My priorities were to have a bathroom with a shower, a small kitchen area and a nice, comfy king size bed. I also insisted that it be stylish and decorated like a tiny home on wheels should be.
Roger on the other hand, only cared about one thing…a storage garage. He’s big on being prepared for any scenario so he brings all kinds of gadgets, just in case.
After a lot of a ton of negotiations and hard work, we both got what we wanted. And Roger, who didn’t care about having a shower, agrees that it was the best thing we did.
We get asked a lot what we would have done differently if we had to do this again.
Our answer? Honestly nothing! It all turned out way better than we could have dreamed. And I think we did really well with utilizing such a small space by creating a ton of storage along with style and comfort.
Do I wish we could have built a bigger kitchen and had a comfy place to relax if it was raining out? Absolutely, but when you are working with 100 square feet of living space, some things just aren’t possible.
In the end we got a dream space and are so thankful for the memories we made and trips we were able to take.
Now it’s time to build a new dream.
