Hi friends! Remember me?

I know…It’s been way too long since you heard from me on the blog.

Actually it’s been almost a year. My last post was just a month after my brain surgery, which was performed on January 9, 2025. I never intended on being away for so long yet here we are.

As for my brain surgery and the DBS, it was a success! The unit was turned on in February and after a lot of tweaks by my medical team, I’m almost free from tremors. I’d say they are about 90% better than they were. It’s been amazing but there has been an adjustment period. I’ve had tremors for more than 20 years so getting used to life without and dealing with a DBS unit, and all that comes with that, has taken some time to get used to. I am learning to embrace my new norm.

If you want to read more about my brain surgery, DBS and why I had it, you can check it out here.

Needless to say, 2025 was not one of my best. I took it easy after my surgeries (there were 2 total), but I ended up falling and hurting my back last March. So with all of my Dr. appointments for my DBS (deep brain stimulator), I was also being treated for my back injury. Surgery is a good possibility so we shall see.

Because of all of this, my DIY projects and the blog has taken a back seat. I still posted updates about our cargo trailer conversion to my socials, IG, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube, but that’s as far as I got. I was able to help do little things in the trailer but Roger really has done all the heavy lifting. The house projects, which is my domain, have completely stopped.

It’s not all doom and gloom here though, we had a couple of highlights from last year. Our youngest daughter got married in Oregon, in September, and Roger and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary.

Oh, and let’s take a moment to talk about the hair. Because, you know…vanity. After a year it is growing in…slowly…not exactly like it was, but it is growing back. At least it’s better than when I came home from the hospital after my surgery. And let’s just say baseball hats have become a staple in my wardrobe this past year.

As for 2026? I’ll be sharing projects that I did before my brain surgery that I never got to post. And hopefully I’ll get my back straightened out so I can get at our bathroom remodel, and help Roger finish the trailer. Still lots of DIYing to do and so much more to share.

And since you have read this far and looked at my lovely post surgery head, here is a sneak peak of our completed breakfast nook. 😉

I also want to say a big thank you for all of your emails and messages with well wishes and prayers over the last 12 months. I can’t even begin to tell you how much it has meant to me and to Roger. It was an incredibly tough year for us but with so much love and support from all of you, it made it easier. So thank you from the bottom of my heart.

And stay tuned…I’ll be sharing my vintage master bath remodel, master bedroom makeover and a dressing room redo. Plus projects from our trailer build.

Here’s to a healthy and happy 2026 for all!
