Master Bedroom Reveal

I’m finally done and ready to share my master bedroom redo. Ummm, I guess I shouldn’t say done because, are we ever really done?
Anyway, I am done with everything I am going to do at this present time (how’s that?) 😉 I’ve already posted about the ceiling that I painted in a pearl finish and the painting of the walls and crown molding installation.
I just want to say that as I redo each room, first the bathroom and then the living/dining room, I am learning more and more about small space decorating (and small space photography!).
It’s been really difficult because you have to learn to edit so much while still trying to have a stylish room. Like I said, I’m learning.
Let’s start out with a few before shots, beginning with an empty room before we moved in.
This is a small room, 13×17, and it had the same “swiney” beige walls that all the other rooms had, but it has beautiful hardwood floors and really nice paneled doors. I knew that I wanted to put up crown molding and paint the walls and ceiling, but the first job we had to tackle in this room was the closet that came empty, no shelves and no rods, which is another post for another time.
Let’s look at my master bedroom now…
This is my favorite part of the whole room…the closet door knobs. 🙂
Although the room is small we where able to fit all of the furniture that we already had, a king size bed, a chair, a two piece armoire, nightstand, and a small bedside table.
Master Bedroom Makeover Expenses:
- ceiling paint – $50
- wall paint – 2 gallons, $100
- leaning mirror – $100
- wood for crown molding – $85
- nail gun – $25 Harbor Freight
- knobs for closet doors – $30
- knobs for armoire and nightstand $15
- door knob and hinges – $ 30
- small round mirror – $10
- monogrammed lumbar pillow cover and form – $35
- woven shades for windows – $285
Everything else I already had. I ended up spending around $785 for the room, including window treatments, but the nail gun will be used again many times, I had nearly a gallon left of the wall paint (don’t you hate when that happens?), and I have half of the gallon of the ceiling paint left.

Love this room. I have a comforter in our bedroom with similar colors to your striped version and so I am going to look into this color for our bedroom. We currently have a pumpkin spice color in there and although I do love bold colors the room is getting darker due to the shade outside so we need to lighten it up and be able to use the same bedding and decor. Oh, and I love to look at blogs with home makeovers but when it is a smaller home it is that much more exciting to me. I love to see what people can do with smaller homes to make them lovely. I love what you have done and since I have read your whole blog now 🙂 I will be following along to see what else you accomplish in this home. Love it!!!

I’m with you on liking bold colors but in this house the room is North facing and pretty dark, plus I wanted to try something different from what I’ve done in the past. That’s the great thing about paint, isn’t it? So many great choices. I never realized just how difficult it is to decorate small spaces until we moved into this house. Now I look everywhere for small space inspiration. So glad you will be following along with me!

I love so much about it — that it is not overtly feminine (so hubby can enjoy it, too) and how it has warm tones that completely make it relaxing and inviting. Does your pearl ceiling paint actually have a reflective quality or sheen to it? Sounds like that would be wonderful for a bedroom ceiling!!
Awww…thanks so much Carla. So glad you like my room. I do try to think of my hubby when decorating so it’s not too feminine.;) The pearl ceiling paint does have a reflective quality to it. It’s not overly shiny, just a bit of a sheen. I love it, especially since the room is north facing and doesn’t get a ton of light. I will definitely be using it again. Hope to see you again! I just love the softness and beautiful use of color in your bedroom. I find all these white walls, white furniture, white fabric very hard and boring. I like the decorating drummer you are marching to….yourself!
